Collection: BORNTOSTANDOUT
Later South Korean pottery, Joseon baekja, is white and sometimes has copper-red decoration, which is especially difficult to paint. Toned down and bold at the same time, and therefore a quite fitting inspiration for the perfume bottles of Borntostandout, the first South Korean perfume brand. Jun Lim, its founder, used perfume from an early age in identity-experimenting and confidence-raising ways. The hobby fragrancer turned into head of business as Lim left a bank job to start an international fragrance firm, without influencer marketing and pretty packaging. Fragrance titles – e.g. DGAF, Drunk Saffron, Fig Porn, Dirty Rice – were deliberately chosen to show that the brand is not “here to tiptoe around taboos”. Rather, perfumes with “seoul” aimed at all those who do not want to blend in.
